Liver Biopsy
Yesterday Honeybunches had his liver biopsy. It went very well. I was terrified of the anesthesia, because he'd never been put to sleep under that before. Everything was fine though. We got there at 9 am. They had me do paperwork, then did the pre-op stuff. I got to stay with him until he fell asleep in the procedure room. That anesthesia worked quickly. Then we went to eat some lunch while waiting. The procedure took a little under an hour, or that's how long it took them to come get us to meet him in the other room when he was awake. After that we were in the recovery room only for about 4 hours. He was very well behaved in the hospital. The morning with him fasting even went smoother than I thought it would. A little after 3 pm they let him go home. He hasn't been in pain or anything. Last night he only slept from 8-11 pm. Then he was up and down (Having me cover him back up four times). Finally at 3 am he decided he was done sleeping and was awake for the day. UGH! Thankfully DH let me nap a bit this morning, but I'm still so tired. So much for the anesthesia making him groggy today like they said it would. I should have known better because his body often does opposite with medications. The nurses from the hospital called twice today to see how he was doing. The 2nd one said "Yeah that can happen sometimes" when I told her how we had a pretty sleepless night. The doctor wrote a note for school saying no gym, recess, sports or strenuous activity until next Monday. They said at home no bike riding or strenuous activity until Thursday. I kept him home from school today to keep an eye on him. He seems fine though, besides being too awake lol. Next Tuesday we go for a follow-up with his GI doc to get the results.
